Title: JASP, a low fat alternative to SPSS, a delicious alternative to R Author: Jonathon Love, Ravi Selker, Josine Verhagen, Maarten Marsman, Quentin Gronau, Martin Smira, Anneliese Wild, Alexander Ly, Dora Matzke, Richard D. Morey, Jeff Rouder, Eric-Jan Wagenmaker Affiliation: University of Amsterdam Abstract: The two dominant software platforms for performing statistical analyses in psychology are SPSS and the R programming language. SPSS is expensive, closed source, and does not implement the newest analyses (such as recent developments in bayesian statistics). In contrast, the R programming environment is open source and implements the newest analyses, however it requires users to write software in a programming language, and is a challenging platform for people without programming experience to use. This talk introduces JASP, an alternative to both SPSS and R which combines the best of both worlds. JASP implements the latest analyses, is released under an open source license and provides a rich user interface such that individuals without programming experience can use. https://jasp-stats.org
